Libby has lost her glasses. Unfortunately, Libby loses things a lot. We are building a Small Town family wing at the local library from our fines for lost library books. We got her ears pierced and she somehow managed to lose one of the earrings in a giant pile of leaves (and that sucker is gone). She loses things on a regular basis and we usually enlist Joanna to find them. She is the finder. She can find things even if she doesn’t know what they look like. It is amazing. You just say to her Joanna, find the needle I lost in that haystack over there and 2 minutes later, you have your needle. In fact, I think I will send her out to look in the leaf pile for the missing earring. But back to Libby’s glasses. We just got her glasses in September, so I don’t think our vision insurance is going to cover another pair (you would think they would realize that 9 year olds lose things and factor that into our coverage). She thinks she lost them at school so I can’t even send Joanna into her room to find them. I guess I could send her off to the 4th grade section, but there is a chance she might never find her way back (or, she might start bossing the 4th graders around and I’m pretty sure some of the bigger ones could take her in a fight). So, that leaves me (Libby doesn’t have her glasses so she couldn’t find a finger poking her in the nose). Tomorrow, on my way to vote no for question 1 (I have to buy a new pair of glasses, no way can I afford to fund my portion of a constitutional convention), I have to stop off at Libby’s school to see if I can locate her glasses. I don’t know what your school is like, but our lost and found is a disaster. it is a giant pile of stuff (probably dating back from the 70′s). I will be rooting through all these random children’s stuff (and during lice season, yuck). Wish me luck. If anyone has an idea on how I can attach Libby’s glasses permanently to her body, let me know. I am open to all suggestions that wont get me in trouble with DCF. |
