Happy New Year! I started out 2010 vowing to have a whole new attitude. I planned to stop being bitter and angry. I was going to be all sunshine and daisies. My new attitude lasted all the way until about 5pm on New Years Day. Then I signed onto Facebook. There was a message from a friend of mine in the Small Town. The message said that if you lived in the Small Town, you no longer get the Food Network or HGTV. I thought maybe she was kidding (or hadn’t paid her cable bill). They have taken away my Food Network. I love my Food Network. I no longer get Chef vs City. I can’t watch Iron Chef America. I will never get to see the Worst Cooks in America. I blame my cable company, Cablevision. I think they have canceled my Food Network because it is out to get me it doesn’t play nicely with others. I looked at all the channels that Cablevision carries and I would be happy to provide a list of channels that can be canceled so Cablevision can afford my Food Network. Does anyone really watch the Golf Channel? How much golf can you watch? Do we really need TruTV? I like reality television more than most, but it’s not like it isn’t available on every other channel. There is a glut of reality television programming. We actually get something called the Navy Channel. Really? I can’t even tell you what’s on it because when you tune it in, there is a computer error message (and no one has even noticed except for me who checked it out for my blog post). There is the Mattel Barbie Channel? I really don’t need an entire channel dedicated to Barbie. And Wedding Central? I know everyone has their hand out when you are getting married but they certainly don’t need a channel dedicated to everything wedding. Not to mention how many other sports channels there are out there. So I am bitter and angry about my Food Network. Why is it that the poor consumer must suffer. Senator John Kerry wrote a letter when Time Warner and Fox wouldn’t get along, but no one cares about me and my Food Network (mental note, write a letter to my congressman). Stacy from Blue Monkey Butt suggested we get satellite. I want satellite. I bet satellite wouldn’t take away my Food Network. Unfortunately, the Small Town has many, many, many trees. We can’t receive satellite. So I am stuck with stinky Cablevision. We have looked at every option we could think of and can’t find another (don’t tell me to give up TV, there is nothing else to do in the Small Town. I am going to spend all of the time that I would have spent watching Food Network, writing letters to anyone who will listen, complaining about my lack of Food Network. So, Cablevision, bite me! Leave me a comment and let me know what television network you can’t live without. |
