Meow Monday: Fire in the Small Town

Last night, our neighbors had a brush fire.  First, let me say that no one was hurt and their home is fine.  Now that we know nothing bad happened, we can have fun with it (I like all my neighbors so if something bad had happened, we wouldn’t be joking about it with Oreo).

As I have mentioned previously, the fire department has difficulty getting to our side of town.  So when fire breaks out, we are on our own.  Last night, our neighbors had a brush fire.  It got pretty big, pretty quickly.

Small Town Daddy and Libby rushed over to help (and as an aid to me, Small Town Daddy took a photo before actually fighting the fire).  Everyone ended up getting the fire out before the fire department even arrived.

Now the neighbors also have a cat.  A very attractive, female cat named Rose.  Since Rose is an outdoor kitty, Oreo has admired her greatly as she runs by his window.  When he heard there was a fire at Rose’s house, he wanted to help.

So he ran and got his fireman uniform (and may I add, that he made it faster than the fire department).

He was ready to help and then he discovered that no one would let him out to help (he is an indoor cat).

So he started to contemplate how heroic he would have been if he had been allowed out to help fight the fire.

All that contemplation made him tired.

While the fire was very scary, everyone is fine.  (although the woods are looking a little sparse).  Have you been in a fire?  Share your story with us.
