Friday the 13th — Eeek?

datePosted on 11:42, November 13th, 2009 by Small Town Mommy

Today is Friday the 13th.  I know I should probably be hiding under the bed, but I have things to do so I refuse to be superstitious.  There will be no hiding (although I have five 10 year olds coming over later so I may be hiding under the bed in the fetal position after that).

So far, the day hasn’t been extraordinarily unlucky.  I did have to give Joanna my last $2 because she wanted to buy lunch today.  And there is something bizarre going on with my bank account that I am sure will not work out in my favor, but I don’t think that is unlucky so much as a pain in the neck. Besides that, everything seems to be fine.

I do have laundry to do.  I suppose that could be considered unlucky, but when don’t I have laundry to do?  How about cleaning?  That sounds extraordinarily unlucky, but again, it is there whether today is the 13th or not.

Of course, the power went out at the Small Town elementary school this morning, but since they got it back up and running, no one is coming home early.  I call that lucky, not unlucky.

Of course, it is only 10 am so things could take a drastic turn for the worst.  My mother would say I am tempting fate with this post.

Leave me a comment to let me know if you think Friday the 13th is unlucky, lucky or nothing special.

***Today on Facebook, I am thankful that the power came back on at the elementary school.***

Lucky! For no other reason than I cannot remember one that was unpleasant.

I should be doing laundry . . . or working or cleaning or SOMEthing productive, but since it’s Friday the 13th, I figure I’d better not take any chances. You’ll find me on the couch, doing blog stuff. That seems safe.

Oh Friday the 13th is LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY! My first child was born on Friday the 13th, during a full moon and a meteor shower. OK, so I ended up in an OR later that day and I also got a blood transfusion, but who is counting!! Funny, my doc came in and said, “Umm…. considering everything that happened, I’m going to hold off on the circ. until tomorrow.” Yup, wise choice. But ever since that day, I’ve always looked forward to Friday 13 – it’s all how you look at it. :)

Oh my gosh I have been so crazy busy with work and all that I totally forgot to be scared today! LoL

Hi, I’m a regular dropper from Entrecard. You know, I view Friday the 13th as any other day. Glad to hear the power came back on at the elementary school. Now stop tempting fate! :0)

I am not superstitious, however if something awful happened today, I would surely blame it on the date.

I’m too superstitious to think about this it’s like the self fulfilling prophecy. No scary movies today either..

I’m not really superstitious, but it does cross my mind. Luckily nothing bad happened today, but I was waiting to see if something did. I would of blamed it on Friday the 13th too.

I didn’t think twice about the day, though I was aware it was a friday the 13th, I have been using power tools all day and driving all over the place in the dark, so I guess I have been tempting fate all day. However, My mother had her stroke on a Friday the 13th, back when I was kid, and it changed everyone’s life drastically. My father would always remind me that it was a friday the 13, mom of course can’t remember. so in that regard I have a little bit of bad juju about the day.

I’ve never had any bad experience on a friday the 13th so to me they are just like any other day of the week.

I don’t believe in the Friday the 13th stuff either. Actually, today was the day that sucked the worst and it was the 14th, not the 13th so there goes that idea.

I hope things get straightened out with the bank account soon!

Bad luck is just a state of mind, and considering that I am told I am out of my mind all the time, I figure I have nothing to worry about. You should try it!

It doesn’t bother us goats. We still get hay, grain and apples. The only unlucky days are the days we don’t get apples.

    THEN we get mad.

oh, my friday the 13th was such a scary one early morning :( i don’t know if it was because it’s a friday the 13th though, i realized it only with your post.

hope you have a good weekend.

Sounds like you had a crazy day! Friday was pretty good for us. We found out that Chris is going to stay with his currant employer instead of being laid off like the rest of his co-workers. In fact they promoted him. So Friday was a good day for us.

The day seemed like every other to me…not sure if that’s unlucky or not!

  18. Stephanie on November 16th, 2009 at 3:01 am

I didn’t seem to have any unluckiness associated with Friday the 13th either…

  19. Elle on November 16th, 2009 at 12:51 pm

To me it’s like any other day. It sounds lucky for you. That power outage at the elementary school could’ve send the kids home early! Yikes! Good thing the power came back on.

I’m glad you survived Friday the 13th :) And I hope you get your bank account issue resolved soon!
