Bad Choices All Around and Other Random Tuesday ThoughtsHello and Happy Tuesday! It’s time for grocery shopping laundry Random Tuesday Thoughts! If you are not familiar, Random Tuesday Thoughts is a weekly activity where Keely, the UnMom, invites me to spew my confused thoughts share what I have been thinking all over the Internet. So here we go. Last week we had 2 days of snow. It is only October 20th and I am already sick of snow. And a special note to all you people who live down in Florida… I love you all, but it is gloating when you complain about how hot it is in October (also in February). It’s like you having to listen to me complain about how I haven’t had to turn on my air conditioner in August. A number of unconnected people have told me that this is going to be the worst winter in a long time. I am hoping it is an unsubstantiated rumor that has traveled through the Internet to a bunch of people that don’t know each other. So have you heard about that family in Colorado who claimed their 6 year old had been launched in a weather balloon. Ignoring the obvious fact that what they did was wrong, they shouldn’t have had children, etc, what kind of idiot involves a 6 year old in a complicated plot. Forget that they are corrupting the morals of their child, 6 year olds don’t follow directions, can not keep a secret and get easily distracted by something shiny. The last person I would involve in a complicated plot that required keeping a story straight would be my 6 year old. Yesterday, I made the really bad choice to race the dog down the hall. I leaped over the couch and tripped, landing on the bed where I hit my head on the headboard. Yes, children, even parents make poor choices occasionally. My head still hurts. Luckily, I didn’t squish the cat who was sleeping on the bed until I landed (when she jumped up in shock and horror). No, the video camera wasn’t running although if it was, I would charge to view the video. It was spectacular. I hope you enjoyed today’s Random Tuesday Thoughts. If you did, come by again. If not, sorry to disappoint, but shit happens. Don’t forget to visit Keely to find out when the rest of the Internets are thinking about this week. |
LOL Anne, in defense of us Floridians, one who is from NY I might add, when it is 100 one week, and then 50 the next, we really are cold. The extreme shift is torture. I think Tequila, will help your head. My dog is huge, and likes to run at you full speed, and knock you down like a linebacker. Maybe the KC Chiefs would like to draft him.
On the Floridian subject. I hate it when my sister complains in the middle of winter how she is freezing because it’s ONLY 60 degrees. I’ve offered to trade her for my single digit temps.
Dam wish you would have had the video camera on, I would have paid to see it
If that Colorado dad spent as much time getting to know his kids (and what 6 year old are capable of) as he did trying to get famous, maybe he would have succeeded.
So YOU’RE the ones that got snow last week. We just had lots of cold with lots of rain, though they kept threatening snow. Disconnected people keep telling us it’s going to be a bad winter this year here, too – of course we have heard that every year since moving to PA 12 years ago and luckily they’ve jinxed it every time…maybe this year they’ll jinx it again?
You had the SAME thoughts I did about that whole balloon boy thing – EXACTLY!
So do the kids join you in your acrobatics – minus the head banging?
Happy RTT!
I would sooooo pay to see that video! Just the visual had me laughing. Hope your head feels better. We’re just waiting to get snow here. It won’t be long and it makes me sad.
Holy crap, snow?! I was in Upstate NY but managed to slip away before I had to see it and it’s a lovely 72 here in SC. Ahhh…
We’ve had some snow too, but ours all melted already. I miss it. I love snow.
I so would have paid to see that video! I do hope that your head feels better though.
Heheheheh,
I’m in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. We’ve already had some snow. We may get some again soon!
Guess you won’t be racing your dog again any time soon
Have a great RT!

incidentally i also spoke of snow on my post..
popping over from random tuesday..
Agree abt the 6 yr old boy incident ! some people !!
I wonder if anybody was actually SURPRISED that the weather balloon thing was a hoax.
I’m sick of snow too. We’ve had at least four days of snow already. Currently it’s gone but more is predicted soon. And you might not say it but the people living in Florida really piss me off right about now.
As for the balloon stunt…yeah it was stupid, yes it cost a lot of taxpayers money and yes, I wish I had the ability to think up things like that. The guy has balls that’s for sure. He shouldn’t use them but he has some big ones.
Sorry about your headboard but you could totally change that story around to make it a little more racy.
Sorry, I’m laughing so hard I forgot what I was going to say! Oh yes, here in the Australian sub-tropics we have had a brief cold spell and overnight it was 15 (Celcius)! I just converted that – it’s 59F. That’s chilly for this time of year cause we are going in to summer.
I am very sorry you hit your head. Perhaps you should grow horns. They seem to work for Abby….
I think the fact that all these unconnected people are telling you about the weather connects them now, right?
And sorry, I’ll stop tweeting about the Florida weather. My bad.
I wasn’t surprised it was a hoax, although at first I was worried for the child, but when the kids spilled the beans then I knew eventually it would be out.
AS for the head injury, vodka, maybe a cosmo, to help the pain?
Southern weather isn’t cold, just odd, like yesterday it didn’t get above 37 and now its 80 so we all get sick.
I love you analysis on the Heene family and their blabbermouth kid! LOL!
I heard the same thing about winter! I know some places in Northern Ontario that have snow and are expecting it. Not us yet just yuk rain, but I am not complaining because I don’t have to shovel the rain. Stay warm! Hope your head feels better
Sorry to hear about your head. I hope you didn’t get a big ‘bun’ on your head. I read about the weather balloon case in another blog; it was crazy to even think about it. I really wonder what was on the minds of these people.
That video sounds really funny…I bet you could win a ton of money from America’s Funniest Home Videos! I don’t know how this winter could be any worse than last years, we had that Ice Storm from hell, with no power!
They keep saying that about the winter here in Wyoming this year too.
I hope that your head is feeling better too!
I agree on the Florida stuff. I absolutely love the “Balloon Boy” comment..hilarious and totally true. My husband can barely keep a secret, let alone a 6-year old! Sorry about the dog incident. Seriously, I thought I was the only one who did that stuff!
All of my posts lately have been about how much I’m hating the weather lately, so I hear ya! Thinking of 6 months of winter is not fun with an 18 month old who was used to being outside all day every day during the summer!
As for that balloon story, it is just crazy to me that parents would actually teach their child to lie. Did you hear/see how the little boy threw up on TWO morning news programs? I feel so bad for him – it’s probably all he can do to communicate that he knows he’s involved in something wrong.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as I winced at the thought of you racing the dog and falling. I hope your head feels better soon!
Thank you for the comment on my post today.
I don’t need the video. I’ve got it looping in my head right now.
Seriously. If you are going to come up with a complicated plot you must use one of the older children. I thought everyone knew that.
I’m totally joking of course.
Anne, I’m up in Ontario and believe me, you will never be jealous of our weather – two months of steam heat, 8 months of brutal cold and tiny slices of spring and fall in there somewhere (if we are lucky). I grew up in Manhattan so am used to the steam heat/cold and slushy variations – sort of.
When I do things like falling over stuff our cat barely stirs, too. She is just so not impressed with me!
I have been reading and enjoying your blog for ages, BTW. And I keep meaning to do Keely’s Random Tuesday thing but my Tuesdays, like most days, are almost TOO random. Maybe next week
Lidian
As someone who spent most of their life in the NorthEast my family and I seriously miss the snow. Even in snowy winters we were usually good with it until about late February (of course we did lots of snow sports which outweighed constant use of the snowblower for the most part.)
I totally agree about the 6 year old. It would have made more sense if he were a teen, they never tell anyone what’s really going on.
I can’t believe you already have snow
Funny blog.
I also hate snow.
No sympathies for Floridians experiencing 50 degree temps. That is not cold for winter, period.
Would you like to borrow my neckbrace?
Your blog never fails to make me smile:) Thought that I would finally stop by and let you know!
We are cold too, here in Kansas City. Lots of rain, and already so gloomy and grey. No snow yet though. Hopefully it will warm up again for both of us.
Take care
I know what you mean. I usually get excited during the first day or two of snow and then I’m ready for summer again.
