Exercise Is Going to the Dogs

Hey, look at that.  It’s Tuesday!  That means it’s time for everyone to get the hell out of my office everyone to return to school and work after the long weekend.  Oh, what?  You don’t care about that?  Well, it is also time for Random Tuesday Thoughts.  Is that better?

Last week, I wrote about my boot camp experience and everyone had an opinion.  Suggestions ranged from suck it up and get over myself to move to another town.  I am going to do neither.  I am going to go tomorrow, but I will complain about it bitterly the entire way (I am nothing if not mature).

As for the rest of working out, I have been too lazy busy.  I don’t know what I have been doing with myself, but I have just haven’t been able to fit it into my schedule.  I guess it only works if you actually get off your butt try.

Thank you, Frog Mama for your concern about my missing the last couple of days.  I wasn’t actually missing, I was just lazy busy.  The girls had no school on Monday and we went dog shopping.  Yes, you read that right, we are considering getting another dog because apparently I have lost my mind.  I think therapy would probably be cheaper than getting another dog but do you know how hard it is to find a good therapist?

We haven’t gotten a dog yet, but we made the rounds to local shelters yesterday.  Yes, we are shelter dog people.  I have to recommend that if you are looking for a dog that you go with a shelter dog.  They are really cute, sweet and they try really hard.  If you visit Petfinder, you can find all the local dogs in your area who are looking for a good home.  The shelters will also tell you the dog’s personality so you can find out if he will bite your kids, chew your shoes or try to escape every time someone opens the door.  We found a chi-weenie that we like, but he is checking references.  I am looking for 2 references who are willing to lie tell the chi-weenie how happy he would be in our house.

Don’t forget to stop by and visit Keely.  She is the founder of Random Tuesday Thoughts so is apparently the only person able to make me actually participate in something on a regular basis.

A Chi-weenie – how cute would that be! Yes, shelter dogs are the best – out of our three one is a shelter pup and he’s the best behaved of the bunch, and always so eager to please!

Awww, a new puppy. My new kitty is a shelter kitty and it is the sweetest thing.

Where you the one asking about pop ups? If so I got a pop up today asking about a survey of some sort. It disappeared before I could try and figure out for what.

    Good luck tomorrow!

Even though you are crazy for getting a dog at least you are getting one from a shelter. Our shelters are overflowing with dogs and cats and other animals that people had to abandon because of foreclosure. It’s really sad and if I could afford the animals that I already have I would go out and rescue a bunch more. As for therapy, a dog does more good than any shrink I have seen.

I go crazy if I Don’t have a dog around. I made it about 3 weeks without one when my last one died and couldn’t take it any more. Went from a lab to a westie. I think I would prefer to have a dog over a kid….lol

My husband will not let us have another dog. I even tried the dog needs a dog approach but that didn’t fly so I am going to live vicariously through you :o )

I have to agree about shelter dogs. One of our dogs is a mixed breed who was on her way to the shelter. She’s wonderful, and it feels great to know that we gave a dog a home who may not have found one in time otherwise.

Shelter dogs are the best! I have a chihuahua mix myself from one. Some rescue groups, however, make you feel out just as much paperwork if not more than you would for adopting a child.

I love Petfinder. I used to waste time at work going through the pages and dreaming of having a third dog (like 2 aren’t enough) and trying to figure out what my dog is mixed with.

I could kill a whole day looking at dogs at Petfinder! I would have a house full of dogs if my husband would let me!

As someone with 2 dogs I just have to ask…are you crazy???? I had that same temporary need another dog syndrome and convinced my animal hating husband to get one. At least at chi-weenie is small and chi-weenie is really fun to say. Good luck, both our dogs are shelter dogs and for the most part they’re ok.

Our dogs are shelter dogs too and I’d definitely do it again. They’re dumb as posts but they’re so good and they do try really hard. The only down side to it was the rampant intestinal worms they were both harboring. Cost a small fortune just to get them healthy but I don’t think that’s the case with all shelters.

I have 2 dogs (that I adore) and know if something were to happen to them I would want another one. I love your blog – there’s an award for you over on my blog.

How cute!!! I want a dog too.. but here there aren’t many animal shelters as in US and the ones that have dogs in (despite of being hundreds of miles away) they have dogs that are either to aggressive or to old to be living in a foster home..so yeah the only option is buying.. but i don’t quite like that per se.. so yeah..still no puppy here for us…sad:(
Anyway Happy Random! Mine’s up to!

We got both of our dogs, as shelter dogs. The puppy came from people who would have gave them to the shelter if they didn’t find homes on their own.

Good for you! You go back there and kick, scream, and whine all you want!

Anne: Your writing about the trainer neighbor makes me laugh. My neighbor is a young (like you) person who might be up for doing that too. She is tiny and always on the go.

My Mom is happy to be back with us. She says she is home!!!
Thanks for getting me to laugh so much.
