Fall, Chocolate and Exercise! Why Can’t I Find My Take 5?

datePosted on 08:26, September 22nd, 2009 by Small Town Mommy

Oh, hey, look at that, it’s Tuesday.  Do you know what that means?  It means that today is the last day to enter my fabulous back-to-school giveaway on the Small Town Mommy Review Blog.  Don’t forget, it ends at midnight tonight.  Oh, wait, it’s also time for Random Tuesday Thoughts.  I almost forgot about that in my excitement about the giveaway.

Today is the first day of fall.  According to the weather guy, autumn starts at 5:18 pm tonight.  Do we really need to be that specific?  Will anything change between 5:17 and 5:18?

Since all of the stores started getting ready for Halloween in August, I have been checking out Halloween candy (it’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it).  Why can’t I find Take 5 bars anywhere?  You can get them mixed into bags with other candy (that is not as tasty), but you can’t buy a package of Take 5 bars by themselves.  Are they trying to force me to buy the inferior candy to get the Take 5s?  The only place I have been able to find them is the Hershey store in Manhattan.  Since it is an hour and a half train ride, I am not sure it is worth it.  A couple of months ago, Frank’s cousins actually bought me a package of Take 5 bars when they came over.  BEST GIFT EVER!  Do you have access to Take 5 bars?

Talking about chocolate leads me right into my weekly workout update.  I only worked out 2 days last week.  For some reason, I was very tired.  I need to start going to bed earlier.  I did start wearing a pedometer.  Small Town Daddy’s office handed them out to the employees and he was able to get me an extra one.  Since I am very competitive, I make Small Town Daddy wear his and then try to beat him every day.  I am pretty good at beating Small Town Daddy.  According to the Internet (there is no better way to get fitness information than sitting on your butt), I should be taking 10,000 steps a day.  I’m not, ’nuff said.

Like many people, I have my computer set to remind me of things I need to do.  It will remind me that I need to do the next step of an ongoing project; it will let me know when I have to check in with certain people; it will let me know when  I have appointments.  I would be lost without my computer reminders.  Unfortunately, on Sunday morning, my computer popped up with a single word reminder, Plumbing.  Now regardless of the fact that a plumbing reminder is disturbing, I have no idea what my computer is talking about.  Am I supposed to fix some plumbing problem?  Am I supposed to call a plumber?  Am I supposed to study plumbing?  Did someone blog something fascinating about plumbing that I wanted to explore further?

Now beside the fact that plumbing is not really my strength (I’m like an idiot savant of home repair.  I can’t do anything, except fix my dishwasher), I find it alarming that I programmed my computer to remind me of anything about plumbing.  It’s not like I am not aware that I don’t plumb.  I know that home repair is not a strength.  Why on earth would I remind myself to do something with the plumbing?  Feel free to chime in with any ideas of what I might have been thinking.  I can use any help I can get.

That is it for Random Tuesday Thoughts.  Don’t forget to stop by and visit Keely.  Convince her she need to go see a ghost.  I really don’t want to hear about her tracing her family tree (I don’t even want to hear about me tracing my family tree).

I’ve been avoiding Halloween candy so I haven’t seen if you can buy Take 5’s around here. I thought I saw some at Target by themselves in a bag, but I’m not positive. Those are some nummy candy bars, one of my favs.

I had no idea you could make your computer remind you of stuff. How do you do that? Cuz I forget everything.

Not sure what a plumbing reminder would be. I would be disturbed by it too, but I have no ideas on what it could be for. I hope you figure it out so you can stop worrying about it.

    Love your random thoughts!

    Have a wonderful Tuesday,

I’ve never tried a Take 5 bar. If it’s got nuts, it’s not my thing. But now I’m curious to see if we have bags of them at our store. I’ll have to check it out. I have a pedometer, but I haven’t worn it since our last challenge at work. No way do I ever make it to 10,000 steps. I wanted to bring it to Disney with us to see how much we walked there, but of course I forgot. Maybe next time. Good luck trying to figure out the plumbing mystery.

If you find that Take 5, let me know where!

It also increases blood circulation, which in turn can help prevent problems with your heart and nerves. Presents

I used to be handy around the house, then I got a man LOL. Now I am lucky if I can program the VCR when the power goes out. Yes we actually still have a VCR. I have never heard of that candy you mentioned, must be I am not a chocolate lover.

Mmmmm, Take 5 Bars. Now that is all I am going to be thinking about all day.

Maybe the computer is giving subliminal messages. Your plumber wants you to call him and give him a project to do. Tell Small Town Daddy to block all subliminal computer messages!

Email Hersheys and tell them you are upset about their lack of concern in your need for Take 5 Bars. It sucks when you have to buy other kinds to get what you want.

The plumbing is a bit alarming. I hope you figure out what that is all about.

I have never had a Take 5 bar, but you’re making such a stink about it, I’ll have to make it a point to try one.

I see plumbing in your future. 😉

I don’t think we have Take 5 bars here in Canada. Plumbing, eh? No idea. Unless you typed in plumbing and meant um, ‘give up all exercising and go and eat chocolate NOW’. Yeah, that’s what it means. Go with that.

[…] days left of 2009. Just thought you might like to know that little tidbit of info. PLUS! Reading Small Town Mommy’s post for RTT it was brought to my attention that today is the First day of Autumn. Well isn’t that […]

I don’t even think I have heard of a take 5 bar. And it is going to be really creepy if something plumbing related breaks in the next couple of days!

Mmmm. I love Take 5’s. I’ve never noticed if our stores sell them by the bag. Still, for Halloween, kids get the kind of candy I hate: Butterfingers or something with raisins. Sorry, kids. You’ll eat anything. I can’t be trusted with the good stuff.

I don’t know how to program my computer to remind me of anything. I tend to write stuff down on paper and then lose it until AFTER I needed the reminder! Good luck on your quest for the Take 5. I can’t say that I remember seeing them by the bag but normally Target has a big selection of candy like that.

  17. Melissa on September 23rd, 2009 at 12:03 pm

I have never seen them in a bag. Just as regular and king size bars.
