New Books, Strippers and More

randomtuesday

Today is Tuesday, so you know what that means.  OK, maybe you don’t.  Obviously it isn’t as important to you as it is to me.  Since you have no idea what I am talking about, I’ll tell you.  Today is the day for Random Tuesday Thoughts, where I share what I have been thinking about lately.  So, what have I been thinking about lately.  That’s a tough question.  There hasn’t been much.  When did I become so shallow?  I better start thinking fast so I have something to say.

Sven (my virtual Wii personal trainer) has fired me.  That’s right, he told me to get lost.  I mentioned last week that I had bruised the muscle in my leg.  The bruise has almost faded and I was feeling better, so yesterday, I reunited with Sven.  Rather than welcoming me back, he told me I had been gone too long and there was no way I could finish my 30 day challenge in 30 days.  He wasn’t very sympathetic considering that I believe I was sorely injured.  I think I need a more sensitive personal trainer.  I wonder how the female avatar would behave.  Probably just as snippy.

Dan Brown is coming out with his new book today.  In case you don’t watch the news or listen to the radio, Dan Brown is the author of the Da Vinci Code.  His new book, The Lost Symbol, is waiting for me at Barnes and Noble out today.   I can’t wait to read it.  I may actually buy it since I doubt I will be able to get it from the library until 2012.

Today at the bus stop, the 5th graders were talking about what they wanted to be for Halloween.  One of the 5th graders wants to be a GoGo Dancer.  For some reason, in my mind, GoGo dancer translated to exotic dancer.  I was horrified by the thought of a 5th grader dressed as a stripper.  Since she doesn’t actually want to be an exotic dancer, my thoughts are irrelevant.  Now the 5th graders are talking about doing a costume together and having the 3 of them dress the same.  As long as they don’t want to be strippers, I am OK with it.

The server transfer didn’t go as snafu free as I had hoped.  It turned out that I wasn’t getting my Small Town Mommy email for 3 days and didn’t know it.  Normally I wouldn’t care, but I almost missed an email announcing that I had won a bar of soap from Pricilla.  Now I have used Pricilla’s soap in the past so I know it totally rocks (and it goes against my personal code to miss out on anything free).  I recommend the lavender bar.  That was my favorite (I am always looking for new ways to relax).  While I rarely shop online, I make an exception for Pricilla and her soap.  It isn’t that much more expensive than grocery store soap and it is less expensive than the other fancy designer soaps.  And you can see the photos of the goats who make the milk so you know they are happy (and if we are being honest, possibly a little bit spoiled).

That’s about it.  Don’t forget to stop by and visit Keely.  She is starting a new home-based assassin business so if you have someone you would like taken care of… send her a note (I wonder if she offers an affiliate program).

What a difference between boys and girls. My boys are trying to figure out just how scary their costumes can be until mom says “no way.”

As far as server issues, I do find that even the simplest of computer changes has unexpected consequences.

Hee Hee, I have started that 30 day challenge twice now. I have yet to complete it. Oops

Sorry to hear about your personal trainer. Maybe you should just hire a new one, although I don’t know how the wii works.

My kids are not even thinking about Halloween yet. Maybe I should say something. It will be here before we know it.

    Random thoughts are great :)

I love the new banner! Libby did an awesome job. We’ve been discussing Halloween costumes too. Fortunately no Go Go dancers have been mentioned. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t know what a stripper is so we’re good there too. Glad you were able to get your mail in time. I’d be so upset if I missed something free.

Well now I’m not going to even try to catch up on my 30 in 30 workout. I’m going to erase my avatar and start all over. They have no tolerance for perfectly good excuses.

I just picked up the new Dan Brown book and I can’t wait to start it tonight. Lets do book club and discuss it virtually.

Pricilla’s soap is wonderful and I’m so glad you finally got the news. I love the citrus bar. It makes the bathroom smell wonderful.

My copy is waiting for me as well at B&N. :-)
(Yes, I will be picking it up soon!)

Don’t go-go dancers kind of dress like strippers? When did they outgrow the Disney Princess stage?

  9. Harriet on September 15th, 2009 at 6:28 pm

5th grade is way too early to want to be a go-go dancer. Do they even know what that is? yikes.

Wow. So even the electronic personal trainers are mean, eh?

So. What IS the difference between a go-go dancer and a stripper? Same dance, more clothes?

And how did 5th graders hear about them?

O.K. My official opinion on Sven is that he bites! I’d return his electronic a$$ to the store and say he was a non-functional tyrant with a personal vendetta to destroy your life!! Bub bye, Sven-you evil avatar!! Go Go Dancers-1960′s, Annette Funachello, Frankie Valie movies? Some of the old 007 movies as well?

Wow, that Sven guy is a jerk! You know what you need, a gay guy trainer, named Todd or Steve. Someone that won’t be so tough on you. I really hope your husband’s name isn’t Todd or Steve.

Wow. Didn’t know we could get wii fired. My wii’s gonna kick my ass then.

You do seem to be having problems with electronic friends lately….

harumph! I am NOT spoiled. Much.

Now, to me a gogo dancer has on white patent leather boots and a mini dress. Nothing exotic or stripper like at all. I am thinking 60ies. Or am I now too old and it has a new colloquial meaning. *sigh*

A go-go dancer could be quite cute. Think: patent leather boots, 60s hair, a polka-dotted mini (but not too mini) dress.

Congrats on winning Pricilla’s soap. It is THE BEST!

Uh-Oh…I’ve been ditching my personal trainer on EA Sports Active this week…wonder if I’ll get fired, too? I suppose that means I’ll have to hit the restart button on the 30 Day Challenge. Then again, I might do that anyway – maybe I’ll get some major accolades from the trainer for being ahead of the curve in the beginning. ;)

How do 5th Graders know about GoGo dancers? Is that in their history lessons? :) I suppose if they’re going by history, it could be cute…as long as it’s not really modern times exotic dancers…then it could get scary. :)

Server snafus are always the worst…glad you got the kinks worked out! :) Happy RTT a day late!

i think the original gogo dancer was a bit harmless but they really changed over the years.

I haven’t been on my Wii so long if I did go on, I’m sure I’d get yelled at too!
