Appliance Mishap and We Have a Winner

datePosted on 09:19, June 25th, 2009 by Small Town Mommy

I was planning to explain the difficulties with my most recent appliance breakdown.  But I was taken down by the plague.  On Tuesday, Soccer Mom made me feel guilty pointed out that she was waiting to hear the story.  Since I needed a prize for the winner, I carted my poor, coughing, hacking carcass out to Bed, Bath and Beyond to find a prize (coughing on anyone who came near me).  So here is my appliance story…

We invited some of Frank’s family over to celebrate Libby’s birthday.  It was a small party, but as usual, it kind of grew as the date got closer.  We ended up with about 20 people, not a huge crowd, but enough to fill my kitchen.

As everyone was standing around my kitchen gossiping chit chatting, my refrigerator suddenly started shooting out ice cubes at people like shrapnel.  No one was touching it, but it was shooting ice at people anyway.  We tried to make it stop.  It wouldn’t.  We switched to the water dispenser.  It then started peeing water on people (shooting out in a dramatic arc).

We finally figured out how to make the ice dispenser stop shooting things at our guests, but the refrigerator continued to get hot.  So we had to empty out everything and turn off the fuse that controls the fridge.

Luckily, the repairman came the next day.  He claimed that the malfunction was my fault (liar).  Apparently I am supposed to blow out the controls of the refrigerator every year (what the hell is that).  I had no idea (it would help if someone had informed me).  He used a giant wet vac (with reversible suction).  Since he has fixed it, it is working fine (although I am still waiting for it to start spewing something at me as I walk by).  And no, he is still not big and beefy.

So to the giveaway.  The winner was picked out of a hat by Joanna.  It was done with random numbers.

Dishwasher was the most common guess (although wrong).  I asked for a dramatic appliance story and I included those entries that contained a dramatic appliance story, even if they were incorrect stories.  Lisa and frogmama are the 2 who actually guessed correctly.  Yay ladies!  Besides being good guessers, both ladies are very funny.  But they didn’t win.  The actual winner isn’t human.  Since I didn’t limit the contest to humans, I have to allow it, but I am not sure what she is going to do with the prize.  The winner is Pricilla.  Now Pricilla is a mommy so I guess that makes her a mommy blogger, but, she is also a goat.

Now, for the prize.  Since it was my refrigerator that died, of course, the prize is refrigerator magnets.

Bed Bath and Beyond does not have a large selection of refrigerator magnets (try none), but I thought these were cute.  I was going to get something to allow the winner to hang pretzels from their refrigerator, but that didn’t seem practical.  Pricilla can use these to hang photos of her kids and grandkids around the goat pen.

Thank you to everyone who participated.  I enjoyed your stories.  I am looking into a real giveaway coming soon and if I am able to move ahead with it, I hope you will participate.

Also, I am going to the doctor today to see if they can do anything about the plague.  I haven’t slept through the night in a week, it is bringing back the hallucinations bad memories from when Joanna was a baby and refused to sleep.

Wow, that is a dramatic appliance story, but it’s also hilarious! Good to know it’s fixed, but I would be leary, you never know when it’ll choose to attack again!

Hmmm, are you sure your refridgerator wasn’t trying to kill someone for you?

I thought we had to guess CORRECTLY to win so now I am doubly excited. I have many progeny so these will come in very handy. Thank you very much! I am a VERY Happy Goat.

Hope you’re feeling better soon. The refrigerator magnets reminded me of why my schedule is so unorganized. We now have a stainless steel and magnets don’t stick to it, so my kitchen control center on the fridge is no more. How can stainless steel not be magnetic? I have no idea.

I know I am so pushy! LoL
That is funny I could imagine everyone standing around and the ice-cubes just shooting across the room like tennis balls from the machine!
I hope you are feeling better soon. And congrads to Pricilla ~ Hoof-five

It’s not a good sign when the fridge starts turning on you. Yikes!

Glad your fridge is fixed. I don’t have the kind that has an ice maker, but my freezer has stopped working and we figured out to blow the back of it, on our own, no one told us either. I recommend actually every 6 months.

Hope you’re feeling better soon. :)

Bubonic plague is easily curable with Tetracycline.

It is, however, somewhat unlikely unless you’ve been patting sick squirrels in New Mexico.

    Have you?
