Keely, the queen of all thing random, started Random Tuesday Thoughts to give bloggers a chance to develop stream of consciousness writing. I am all about stream of consciousness. This allows me to avoid having to tie my thoughts together and I am very grateful for that. So anyway, here we go. I know I am posting late today, but I don’t plan ahead like the rest of the world. I had a press release I had to send out this morning before writing this. That’s right, work comes before blogging. Hey, clients pay me. You people don’t even click on my Google ads. Luckily, I like you. Blogging is a labor of love. It has to be, since I don’t appear to be making any money from it. Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, resigned on the Friday before the 4th of July. Planning a press conference on Friday afternoon on a national holiday is a prime way to avoid press coverage (public companies do the same type of thing when their earnings are really, really bad). Luckily for Palin, most of the media was too busy, reporting that Michael Jackson is still dead, so the national media didn’t pay her too much attention. If only Governor Sanford had gotten caught a few days later, no one would have even heard about his trip to South America. This is a great time to get caught doing something really bad. Speaking of Michael Jackson, we were in Manhattan this weekend and they have already started selling Michael Jackson commemorative T-shirts. If there is a buck to be made from someone’s death, you know there is someone, someplace who will take advantage of it (no, I didn’t buy one, although it might have made a fun giveaway). I have to clean out my closet. The other day, I was reaching for a sweatshirt and heard something crack as I stepped on it. I quietly backed out of the closet and didn’t even look to see what it was. I am hoping it was something unimportant. Have you heard about the Sci-Fi channel? They are changing the name to SyFy. I am curious who thought that was a good idea and why. Did someone say, “Hey, people recognize the name Sci-Fi, let’s change our name to something that makes no sense.” If they want to get away from the theme of science fiction, changing the name to nonsense words that sound the same is a really bad idea. Ah, to be the branding consultant who got paid for that. Don’t forget to go visit Keely, the queen of all that is random. It is her fault that I am doing this (the random thing, not the blogging). |
The SCI-FI thing is just lame! Why would they do that??
Dropping by to check out what is new to read over here
Keep safe and healthy always
xoxo
SyFy, huh? I don’t get it. I didn’t hear about Gov. Palin… Huh. I’m sick of her and MJ.
What! Michael Jackson is dead? You’re kidding….so you mean the almost 24/7 news coverage ISN’T a joke.
Sadly, it is.
SyFy does sound goofy. I wonder who got that idea. Are you sure Michael Jackson is still dead? I thought I saw him walking around in the mall the other day. lol.
I’ll remember to do all of my lascivious acts on major holidays or when someone famous dies.
Hey, Thanks for the tip!
You so must be making up SyFy. Now I have to go Google it. But, first, let me click on an ad.
I watched the MJ memorial and it made me cry when his daughter got up on stage and say how much she loved her dad. Good or Bad, innocent or guilty I just hope the kids will be left alone by the press.
Work before blogging, what a novel idea. I hate the whole don’t get paid for blogging thing and having to work.
I’m sick of Palin, Jackson & Jon & Kate. Let’s all move on.
SyFy….Lame.
Happy RTT!
your random post is really so randomly entertaining, you really brought laughter to my day. Oh, I hope you get to earn even just a little from blogging, it is enjoyable
but am glad you like it anyway
I like Palin, I hope she didn’t shoot herself in the foot. As for Michael, well I still have nothing to say about that.
Sara Palin’s speech was a joke. I have never in all my life heard a speech that bad. EVER. it made absolutely no sense.
I watched MJ’s memorial thinking that I wouldn’t cry because I didn’t know him. But I did at the end when Paris made her closing remarks. He was the King of Pop, a world icon…but her father.
I had to laugh at the part about you stepping on something, hearing a crack, and then backing away without looking. The exact same thing happened to us recently – my husband stepped on something in the dark that made that same noise. I shot up in bed (where I’d been sleeping) and yelled, “What was that?” He answered, “It’s fine” and I have yet to look to see what it was because it sure didn’t sound fine!
I agree about the Michael Jackson thing. Seriously….how many times can we report he DIED? And that he was an amazing singer/ground breaking, blah, blah, blah. I enjoyed (as much as you can when someone has died) the memorial service yesterday, but did CNN have to cover it ALL DAY AND NIGHT?! Did any soldiers get killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Did the president from Hondurous ever get to land (did a mommy blogger ever learn how to spell his country’s name)? If any of that happened none of us would know. All we know is that Michael Jackson died and his brothers wore one white glove (still don’t get the point of that) to his funeral. That’s it. Let’s hope a life-threatening weapon isn’t about to hit us because we will never know….unless Michael Jackson’s body is attached to it.
You make it sound like I had altruistic motives in starting this thing, when in fact, I just can’t get a coherent post together.
SyFy? Really? Because that…less geeky?
I agree, blogging is a labor of love. It takes a lot of work and time. It’s just crazy how the media is eating up the death of Michael Jackson. I think it’s kind of a sad thing. Anything to make a buck or a story. Thanks for stopping by today Anne. Have a great week.
Hugs
Michelle
Why oh why would they change it? I’m all too familiar with the Sci Fi channel. Chuck’s an AV whiz so he set it to the default channel in our house, which irks me to no end.
Your Libby post didn’t load in a way I could comment to it. Probably IE. I hate IE.
What a cute baby photo. You know, of course, she will not need you and then when she gets through the teen years she will become your best friend. Patience is now YOUR best friend.
Lol about the SyFy channel. What are they thinking? I think they need a new marketing rep.
You still haven’t checked to see what cracked in your closet? You better get on that stat. What if it was a tiny kitten or a cockroach. Oh well, it was probably just a hanger.
Heh, I have the same thing going on with my closet…I still haven’t gone back to check and see what cracked when I stepped on it…obviously it wasn’t important.
SyFy? Really? That’s definitely lame…
Blogging is definitely a labor of love…I always have to make sure my paid stuff gets done before I blog/play, but I figure since I don’t get paid to do the housework, I can let it slide…
Happy RTT a couple days late!
