Last night was Libby’s band and chorus concert. She plays trumpet in the band and sings in the 4th grade chorus. She did an amazing job, including a trumpet solo where she played Taps all by herself. That was a proud moment for the momma who lacks all musical talent. She didn’t seem nervous at all. Sometimes, I wonder where Libby came from. A note to the caregiver of the badly-behaved 2 year old. You need to keep your 2 year old from running up and touching the performers. If you can’t recognize that fact on your own, you should have gotten a clue from all the other parents who had to grab your poorly behaved child to drag him off the risers. The fifth time another parent has to get involved with your discipline, realize you can’t control your child well enough to bring him to a school concert. After we got home, it was time for “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.” I am totally hooked on it. I know, I know, it appeals to the worst in society, but hey, that’s me (didn’t I mention earlier that I also watch Charm School?). Small Town Daddy and I are debating if they qualify as actual celebrities. I say yes, since I have heard of most of them (as opposed to Trump’s celebrities on “Celebrity Apprentice”). If you have been watching, you saw Lou Diamond Phillips munched on by a rat (he was so good in “La Bamba,” what happened?). Janice Dickinson (who has had one too many bad plastic surgery sessions) is there too. I have never watched her on anything, but she seems a little cranky (and to those of you who said I was old, let me just point out that she is older than me). Thank you so much to all the people who left me kind and supportive comments on my last post. I am feeling better today and hopefully everything will get done in time! |
Small Town Daddy was very proud of his little girl! She did such a great job! She certainly didn’t her talent from me.
Anne I am so glad to hear she had a wonderful concert, that is so awesome. Please don’t take what I have to say below wrong, I am not saying this because I approve of what the child or parent done.
Sometimes parents just give up when they have a child that will just not listen no matter what they have tried. I am not making excuses believe me. But I do believe sometimes they fade out after fighting with the child for so long. Spanking in today’s world is not taken lightly in public anymore, and besides, it never works, they just get worse, in my opinion. Yes I agree, then leave the child at home if you can not keep the child under control. And get the child some help along with the whole family. Counseling today is never to early to start with your family and children.
I absolutely hate poorly behaved children! I would have taken that child by the hand and walked him over to mom and told her to watch her child! What is the deal with parents???
I am so happy the concert went well and that Libby was well enough to perform. Congratulations to all of you.
I am glad you are feeling better. Cyber goat hugs do that
Thanks for the kind words. Pray for me this summer. It is going to be a very long one. Please keep in touch on Facebook.

I’m so glad that the concert went so well. I played the flute when I was in school and I loved it. I was kind of a shy kid, but I loved doing concerts.
Had to google Janice. Scary. I wouldn’t be able to watch the show for my fear of looking at her.
I’m glad the concert went well. I’ve actually watched the show too. What did you think of Heidi and Spencer? I have a feeling they will be back.
Hee. Now I want to google Janice too. I’m glad the concert went well. As for the kid? I like kids like that, it makes my kids look good and some days that takes A LOT.
I’m not much of a television watcher unless it is a news type show but I have to say I totally got sucked into I’m a celebrity, and I have no idea why! But if you tell anyone I am so going to deny it! LoL ~ Wonder if Speidi will get to come back??
I am totally watching the I’m a celebrity thing too. It was actually on a few yrs. ago too. I actually watched it then too. I don’t even know who some of the people are either. I wish Janice got off tonight, she is totally crazy.
Wow your daughter sound really musically inclined that’s awesome! I hate when other people don’t control their own kids! Have a good night.
I hate to say it but I’m LOVING I’m a celebrity, get me out of here. I’m NOT going to be happy if they let Heidi and Spencer back in. Except for Lou Diamond and the Baldwin boys, I hadn’t heard of any of the rest of these folks. Glad I’m not the only one hooked on this show.
No kidding with the 2 year old. Now that my kids are pretty much grown up, I am so intolerant of poor behavior in public places.
Oh how nice for Libby, and you. Your school must be one of the few that has not cut music classes. I hope they never do, maybe she will go on to be a great musician.
It’s very nice to have someone in the family with a musical talent, specially one who can sing and play a musical instrument. If you wonder where she gets that talent, it’s a gift.
Oh, man. I tried so hard to ignore “I’m a Celebrity,” but my mom insisted on giving me a blow-by-blow description of the entire first two episodes that totally sucked me in. Curse you, Frangela!
How awesome that Libby has musical talent! That is something that I think many parents secretly wish for in their children but don’t want to push…well, maybe that’s just me.
Someone needed to take those parents outside of the auditorium and spank them and shake their finger at them. How dare they let their child disrupt the concert.
Congrats on Libby’s performance, sounds so impressive. I have like zero musical affinity. It’s so sad. I tried watching “I’m a Celebrity…” but I just couldn’t sit through it, that Spencer kid needs a beat down. Ugh…I do watch Charm School though, so shameless, but it makes my sweats and sneakers seem classy.
The concert sounded great. I can hear the proud mamma in your post!! Uggh you would think the parents would have gotten a clue that their kid was up there all those times. Unreal how ignorant people can be!
That is so great that your daughter has such musical talent. I used to play the saxophone in the school band and sometimes I miss it. As for the two year old – what the heck? My son is at the “running around stage” but I would never let him interfere with other people – I’d be so embarrassed if someone else had to control him. Usually I can relate to most mothers, but that I can’t!
Yes, I also love the dance and music recitals and agree on the length of time appropriated. I saw the photos from Frank’s blog of the entire weekend’s events. What lovely, beautiful and talented girls.
PS> Frank is such a great photographer. I guess it is in his DNA>
Sounds like the concert was a success!! I remember the band days, I was a flautist (and played any other instrument the band needed) Never heard of “I’m a celebrity…”
