Don’t forget to enter my giveaway! C’mon, you can’t tell me that I am the only one whose washer smells funny. Don’t you have dirty socks? Don’t you have mildew? Stop trying to make me feel like I am the only one whose washer smelled funny. Now, on to our post… If you have a preteen daughter, I am sure you have heard of Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past couple of years, can I join you? No seriously, Miley Cyrus is Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter who stars in Hannah Montana (Billy Ray is on the program too, I imagine to suck in the preteens’ mothers). Remember Billy Ray Cyrus? Anyway, Miley is touring and recently came to Connecticut. Lots of little girls in the Small Town went berserk. Except for Libby. Apparently, my overuse of the word trashy has sunk in. Libby says she thinks Miley’s music is trashy. I don’t know if it is trashy or not because I would rather stick knitting needles into my ear than listen to it. I am just happy Libby doesn’t like it. Joanna isn’t interested in the music but does like Hannah Montana. She doesn’t get to watch it very often since Libby hates it. I don’t think I would let her watch it very often anyway. Apparently, Hannah Montana teaches little girls to talk back to their parents. I don’t enjoy people talking back to me. Especially short people. If I can use you as an elbow rest, you shouldn’t talk back to me. What do you think of Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana? I think Miley is going to have trouble moving past Hannah and hopes her music career is successful since acting probably won’t work out for her. |
Ugh. Enough is enough with both of them. Maybe she’ll go away eventually. She’s getting a little old for Disney, isn’t she?
If Miley keeps showing her bits she will just trash herself.

hmm well I never knew she really talked back very much. I have seen the show a lot. I think it’s a cute show. That said, we don’t have cable and HM is one reason for that. I don’t want my 10-year-old becoming boy crazy because she sees Miley Cyrus talking about cute boys and going on dates and kissing, etc. The one thing about her that bugs me the most is all the marketing. The t-shirts, the bedsheets, the notebooks, the pajamas, the lunchboxes, the guitar-shaped purses, etc. It’s all too much. Over-saturation. Yuck.
She claims she’s trying to get away from teeny-bop music and start producing more adult songs so she can transition away from child star and morph into adult star. Yeah, good luck with that one.
I can’t talk back to you. I’m arm rest height.
LOL I probably should not talk back to you either. Since my nine yr old son is almost as tall as me, I can assume, you can rest your elbows on me LOL. I am gonna talk back though, because I actually like Miley. My son thinks she is cute, of course, my daughter doesn’t pay too much attention to her, and I don’t think kids need a show to teach them to talk back, that is what their friends are for. I do like some of her music, she is way more talented than her father.
I use my child for a place to put my drink. My daughter never much cared for Miley or Hannah, she does like her music but doesn’t like the show or movie. She likes iCarly however.
Thanks, I now have Achy Breaky Heart stuck in my head for the rest of the weekend. I might be forced to listen to Barry Manilow or Celine Dion to get it out.
My washer doesn’t smell, the rest of the house does but the washer is good. Still, I’m heading over there.
Done! Except I didn’t admit that my washer smells. Oops.
Here’s my thoughts

from a few months ago, and I have to say my opinion hasn’t changed. Glad to know you have two very smart ladies there!
I’m glad that my daughter is beyond that age. I hate how Disney crams these “bands” down our kids’ throats.
My boys like Miley Cyrus. Not really her music, but they think she’s pretty. I hate to tell you, but I don’t think Miley is going anywhere any time soon. Her song The Climb is the top audition song for American Idol auditions, and when my husband travels to India and China the only female performers all the people know are Madonna and Miley Cyrus (I was a little surprised about that one)
I have to say I’m a little partial toward the Cyrus family. When we lived in Nashville Billy Ray would show up at about every charitable function in town and he seemed like a very nice person.
Sissy likes the show and there are worse shows out there for her to be watching. I’ll admit that I kind of like her song “The Climb”. There I said it!
I kind of hate Hannah Montana. She’s such a popular kind of girl, I feel she’s just too good to be true.
But my fourteen year old daughter likes her.
I think Miley is evolving into a Lindsay Lohan and that is what is bad. Little girls growing so old, too soon.
My daughter is twelve and she still loves Miley Cyrus. She also watches Hannah Montana and all the other Disney sitcoms. Have a wonderful weekend!
Drop ec and care to exchange link?
You’re right she cannot probably move from Hannah Montana’s image , or either she’d have to show off skin and be a train wreck to be “talked about” hoping to claim popularity.
And no child should ever talk back to a parent.
I have somehow managed to avoid knowing much about Miley Cirus/Hannah Montana. I know who she is, I’ve seen her/heard her on a couple of talk shows, but other than that – I’ve never listened to her music or seen her show. But that sounds great that your daughters have a mind of their own and haven’t just jumped on the bandwagon!
I appreciated your comment on my post the other day about my dog, it brought tears to my eyes!
My children aged five and seven like to watch Hannah Montana on TV. My five year old daughter is so involved in the plots that she warns Miley out loud when she is making a mistake!
What do i think of this showm her acting, her music? It’s trash! I would never waste my time kooking at this stuff. But I remember looking at the Three Stooges on tv when I was a child. So I can understand that even trash has its time and place!
I agree with you that children should not talk back to their parents. Unfortunately my daughter does this alot. I am hoping she will grow out of it. I do tell her that she is wrong to speak to me the way she does. I have thought that tv teaches children to talk back. But I’ve changed my mind. Ever since my husband has decided that he no longer likes me anymore and uses abusive language in front of the children, I know where the source of her bad behavior comes from.
I’ve heard of Miley Cyrus cuz I have a teenage girl, but I had no idea she was Billy Ray’s daughter.
I’m with you on the fact that kids shouldn’t talk back to adults. It seems like all the tv shows these days feature kids doing that. I hate it.
I think she’ll still be Hannah Montana to most people even when she’s 80. That kind of role, to take off in popularity the way it has, will most likely typecast her, both in music and on the screen. I hope she’s saving her money because when she’s 30 she’ll be living off the residuals, unless she has a mental breakdown like Britney and then stages a big comeback.
I think all shows these days teach kids to talk back. HM isn’t unique unfortunately.
I’m okay with Miley. There are certainly a lot worse things out there for my nine year old to be watching. As for the music? At least it’s clean and not suggestive. I give Miley a thumbs up over here.
Miley has no business dancing on a pole, and the fact that her parents support that addition to her dance “routine” makes me ill. How about some non-gyrating role models for our children? Is that too much to ask for?
