Post-Christmas Edition

datePosted on 19:44, December 26th, 2008 by Small Town Mommy

On the day after Christmas, I spent the day cleaning up and trying out our new Wii games (who knew Dance, Dance Revolution was so hard, it looks so easy on TV).  Christmas itself was fabulous (if messy).

All Joanna wanted from Santa was a camera and he complied.  She loves her camera.  Although, she would have been even happier if it came with a photographer attached.  She keeps going up to people, showing them her new camera and saying, “Here, take my picture.”  It also does video.  She will start filming a video then hand the camera to someone else so she can actually be in the video.

All Libby wanted from Santa was a diamond, penguin pendant.  Fortunately, Santa was able to find one on Amazon (about a tenth of a carat).  Libby keeps telling everyone she is loaded because she is wearing diamonds (I wish she was loaded, it would solve so many problems).

Santa brought me my SODA STREAM!  Actually, it was the UPS man, but as long as it arrived, I don’t care who brought it.  Luckily, I was in the shower when it arrived, otherwise, I might have kissed him and that would have been embarrassing.  My sister-in-law and her husband got me a Barnes & Noble gift card so I got everything I could have wanted!

Christmas was fun, although it started out a little stressful.  I was woken at 5:15 am by the power flickering off and back on.  It was very windy so I started worrying about what we would do if the power went out.  I was completely blocked and couldn’t come up with a single plan (can you cook a ham on a gas grill?).  Fortunately, the wind died down, leaving our power lines intact.

Three different people brought dessert and they all brought cheesecake.  My sister-in-law brought an invisible cake so we weren’t able to find it to serve it.  She was supposed to bring dessert but wasn’t able to.  Luckily, we had 3 different cheesecakes to choose from.

We had a crowd of only 16, but they created a mess worthy of at least 50 people (I didn’t even know I had that many dishes).  Libby and Joanna discovered that the Wii has a setting where you can play around with photos so they spent a fair amount of time giving my brother-in-law pink hair and putting kissy lips and hearts all over him (everyone has a little crush on their Uncle Augi).

It was a very long day, but was fabulous!  Tonight, Frank and Libby went to a hockey game and Joanna and I are hanging out at home relaxing.  Earlier, my in-laws came over for dinner (because apparently they didn’t get enough of us last night).  It was good to have someone else to eat some of our leftovers.  We have way too many.  Anyone want some ham?

oooo–delicious ham! We were just talking about Christmas messes–how it used to be so much worse when we didn’t have dishwashers! :) All the mess is sure worth it when you get that time with family! Glad you had a wonderful Christmas!

I love my dishwasher, but can’t put the china and silver into it. We don’t use it often, but when we do, it is a mess.

Hey you got your Soda Stream! Can’t wait to hear more about it. Dance, Dance Revolution sounds like a workout. Sorry to hear it started stressful (and about the mountain of dishes) but it sounded like a lovely Christmas afterall.

It sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas. That Soda Stream looks really great; I don’t drink much soda but that looks fun! You will have to let us know what you think of it after you get some time to ‘play’ with your new toy!

I would love some leftovers. We had five surprise guests and all I have is half a pumpkin pie. I am so disappointed!

Linh, Christmas was fabulous! I will definitely write about the Soda Stream, we just need some alone time to bond.
Julie, Wii Fit is awesome, you will LOVE it. I wrote about the Soda Stream in a previous post, I will do a review in a few days.
Felicia, I am drinking homemade soda as I write.
    Jenni, it is the best!
Stacy, Dance, Dance Revolution and I are not friends yet. It keeps insulting me.
    Amy, happy to come by.

Relimom, your kids will probably object to the invisible dessert, mine did.
Rhonda, the Soda Stream and I are getting to know each other, but I will introduce it to everyone soon.
Running Mommy, they actually traditionally forget half their presents and have to come to get them the next day.
Patois, it’s a deal, we could put together quite a meal!
Frogmama, next time, I will send some off to Mulletville.
Caffeine Mama, we are still getting to know each other, but so far, so good.
