Flu in the Small Town

datePosted on 10:04, January 25th, 2013 by Small Town Mommy

Facebook has become a place of fear for me.  People keep talking about the flu.  I keep watching families being taken out one by one.  I don’t want to get the flu.  No, I didn’t get a flu shot, the logistics are just a little too complicated for me (I know, the logistics of getting the flu would be even worse but I think of it like going to the casino.  Hopefully, I win).

My oldest is home sick today.  She doesn’t have the flu because she doesn’t have a fever.  But she is suffering from mild versions of the other flu symptoms.

So what are your thoughts on the flu or getting sick?  Are you trying to avoid it like the plague or are you looking for a little break?

If I get it I get it. Just means I need to steer clear of the sniffling people at the college especially if they try to touch me lol

Goats don’t get the flu so that is good but the publicist and male person got their shots. They had the flu once, together, at the same time and they swore they would never go through that again. So they get their shot every year, together, at the same time.

I just cross my fingers and hope it doesn’t find me.

i had flu shot but that does not immune me from cold, and with my exposure to students who cough, sniff, and shows cold symptoms, i am not surprised whenever i get some sore throat here and there :(

I don’t get a flu shot and we’ve been pretty lucky–never getting the flu. Getting the shot doesn’t mean that you won’t get the flu–it only protects you from the strains that the CDC anticipates will be the most prevalent in any given year. I dunno, I’m not big on all these shots nowadays.

No flu shot for me. I had a weird painful reaction to the last one and don’t want to try it again. As much as I don’t want the flu, I’m terrified of the stomach bug. I’ve been sanitizing my desk at work a lot!

J-Man is home sick today. Last week he caught his sister’s cold and was sick all weekend. He should be able to go back tomorrow.

    Stay healthy!

We do not get the flu shots. I know we homeschool so you would think we would be less exposed. However, I work in the medical field and am lucky enough to get exposed to germs all the time. I have had the flu exactly once in my whole adult life, DJ once and Caitlin never. These are things I do to help prevent getting it: if we are sick even if not flu we stay home period, if their friends are sick they don’t spend time with them period, once a week and after company I clean the house with diluted bleach to kill germs, wash your hands alot with soap and water not that germ stuff, if you have been to someone’s home who is sick removed shoes and clothing as soon as you return home and put them in the laundry, most importantly don’t go to the hospital or doctor’s office unless you absolutely have to. Tamiflu is not what it is cracked up to be.
