I Totally Need a Soda Stream

datePosted on 13:58, December 16th, 2008 by Small Town Mommy

OK, need may be a little strong, but I really, really want one.  What is a Soda Stream, you ask.  Good question.

It is a machine from a company called Soda Club that would allow me to make my own soda.  How cool is that.  Check out this photo.

Isn’t it beautiful!  Wouldn’t it go nicely in my kitchen?  Look at how it changes colors.  I know the real one doesn’t do that, but if I am going to dream, let me dream big.

Now, I drink more soda than I should.  And while I don’t allow the girls to drink soda, they do drink seltzer.  This would allow all of us to make our own.

They offer flavored syrups so you can make any flavor soda (unlike those old-fashioned club soda makers they have in old movies).  My girls would love to make their own seltzer.  I am imagining the hydration.  They would drink just to finish it so they could make more.

And for me, they offer 13 flavors of diet soda.  I would be in hog heaven.  They even offer recipes where you can mix and match your own flavors.  I am sure I would devote way too much time to making up my own kinds of soda (Small Town Mommy Berry Buzz anyone?).

I would never run out of seltzer again.  I could just make it from my faucet.  The Small Town Ladies would be so happy (and I wouldn’t have to listen to the no seltzer complaints).

I totally need a Soda Stream!  Now, any suggestions for convincing Small Town Daddy that we can’t live without one?

Just like you , I’m a soda drinker too–mostly classic Coke and nothing else. I have an uncle who drinks Coke every after meal-breakfast, lunch and dinner and he is very skinny yet very healthy at 60.

That is very cool! Buy it for yourself, wrap it, put it under the tree, and tell DH Santa brought it.

Oh my! My husband is OBSESSED with seltzer. We are constantly buying it. Thank you for posting this!

    You’ve certainly convinced me!

Bingkee and Lydia, I drink soda instead of coffee so we go through a lot of it. I have already developed my favorite recipe in my own mind.

Felicia, I am shy and would feel uncomfortable contacting them. I thought about it, but am too self conscious.

Modernmommy, this is the best gift ever, you would be the favorite daughter-in-law if you got one of these.

Nicole, sadly, they are not cheap. But, can we put a price on my happiness?

Caffeine Mom, you are now the person I most want to be. I am sooooo jealous!

Jenni, a fabulous idea, I will have to ponder that one.

Frogmama, if you get one, don’t tell me. I am already jealous of your snuggie that I didn’t win.

Running Mommy, he did read the post. Unfortunately, he lives with my enthusiasm and tends to ignore it.

It is environmentally friendly. You won’t have a bunch of bottles to throw out and clutter landfills. Rather than soda that is loaded with high fructose corn syrup, you can make a healthier drink with fruit juice.

    See if those ideas work.

    And have a Merry Christmas.

Wow! Now I have something new that I want too!

That’s too cool. Forget the husband, just hit up Santa. I’m sure you’ve been a well behaved Mommy this year, right? Soda is a nice reward and think of all the money you’ll save in the long run, those Pepsi people have more money than they know what to do with. Down with the corporate soda machine! Down I say.

My husband always responds well to arguments about saving money!

So perhaps you can convince him that buying this gadget will save him lots of money!

Joe, none of the ideas worked. It turns out that he is concerned because all of the refills need to be reordered from the manufacturer. If they go under, we are screwed.
Mrsbear, I don’t think I was that good this year. I guess I have to be nicer to the kids :) .
Relimom, he is worried that the manufacturer will go under and it will wind up being super expensive for the little soda we get out of it before the manufacturer disappears.
All, I have pretty much accepted that there will be no Soda Stream for Christmas (sigh). Oh well, my birthday is coming!

  17. Caffeine Mom on December 18th, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Hehehe – it is totally awesome. You have to get one!

  18. Caffeine Mom on December 18th, 2008 at 4:36 pm

It’s really not that huge of an investment – so if they go under, well, I bet you could get refills somewhere. I am sure that is not the ONLY place to get refills from, we just need to investigate!

  19. Small Town Mommy on December 18th, 2008 at 4:38 pm

caffeinemom, you are a genius! I will start searching right now. Even if we miss Christmas, my birthday is practically around the corner.

  20. Rhonda on December 21st, 2008 at 3:14 pm

We don’t drink a lot of soda, but this looks like fun!

  21. Anne on December 23rd, 2008 at 12:28 pm

Rhonda, If you don’t drink soda, stay away from it. Soda is awful for you, no need to develop the addiction if you can avoid it (it is too late for me).

I was able to review one of these: http://ridingwithnohands.com/sodastream-home-soda-maker/ and LOVE it! Hope you’re able to get your hands on one ;)
