Very Rare Baby Pygmy Hippo 'Monifa' Born!Very Rare Baby Pygmy Hippo ‘Monifa’ Born! Originally uploaded by BlueisCoool I wanted to share this with you because I think she is so cute. Wouldn’t you love to have one (if pygmy hippos were potential pets). They are not because they grow to be approximately 32 inches high, 59-70 inches long and weigh 400-600 pounds. While this is very small for a hippo, it is a little large for my living room. I will have to just admire her on the Internet. |
That is the cutest little thing ever! If it weren’t for the weight and probably enormous appetite, I’d consider adopting one…well, there might be some other things I’d have to consider before adopting a hippo: do they play well with other animals and kids, will my vet see a hippo.

I LOVE THAT FACE! How sweet!!!
Babies are always sweet, regardless of the species. Although I most certainly can’t see myself cleaning up after a 400+ lb pet. We’ve got enough poop mines in our backyard with the two dogs. Is it sad that you say 400+ animal and I think HUGE poop?
Awww, how adorable is that!! I want one
Now that is cute. I wonder how big it gets.
DOH! Scroll Ken scroll! lol
I know! Tell hubby you want a hippo. Make a big deal about it and then compromise and say fine then I want another cat!!
BTW, tag you are it.
Well, as they say, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ….. and yes, he is cute and I am sure very sweet! Great picture.
I love hippos! I recently was watching a show on the Animal Planet about them. There is a lot more to them then I knew. The babies are so cute! Thanks for sharing this.
I wants one, too!
OH..this is adorable! I want one! LOL!
I wants one three!
Aw it’s adorable. Too bad it doesn’t stay that size! I wonder what their temperament is like. Apparently the regular hippo is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa – believe it or not.
Holy Heck. She is crazy cute.
Maybe your husband will at least take you on a trip to Australia to visit her? It’s the least he can do!
I’m not showing my husband though, because he’s got some weird kick for mini-versions of large animals…after we went to Yellowstone it took years before he would stop talking about how he wanted a miniature buffalo as a pet.
No, I’m not making that up!
